Natural Remedies for Acne

Before you purchase the various acne medications and treatments, consider trying some natural medication for acne first.

Acne is a skin condition (usually on the face) that can appear as pimples or as complex as red, blocked pores.  In the worst cases they can leave scars around the affected area.  Acne also affects people of all ages, gender and race.  But a majority are people in their teens when they are going through puberty.  This is the period where the body undergoes hormonal changes in the road to adulthood.  The body starts to over produce an oily substance called sebum.  This makes the skin feel more “oily” and pores to be clogged and hence the formation of acne.

List of natural remedies for acne:

1. Natural Remedies In Your Kitchen

* Witch Hazel is used as an astringent. To use, steam the twigs to get the extract.  Wait for it to cool down first before applying the extract to the acne area.  As natural remedies for acne are all natural, they are also less harsh than the over the counter variety.

* Rub a peeled garlic or raw potato lightly on the acne area.

* Dilute white vinegar with distilled water and apply it to the acne area. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off.

* Echinacea and Oregon grapes are used to ward off acne causing bacteria.

* Purchase Tea tree oil from your local herbal store.  Make sure you purchase “Melaleuca Alteronifolia” tea tree oil as this has anti-bacterial properties.

* Green Tea contains antioxidents to fight off free radicals.  It also decreases hormonal activities.

* Purchase supplements that contain Burdock Root (Arctium Lappa).  The effect of Burdock root is to remove the acne toxic agents from the bloodstream.

* Mix 1 part lime juice and 1 part milk (room temperature) and apply the mixture to blackhead areas.  Use every other day.
